Existing arrangement
What is retained, and on what evidence?
HAUSE / Edmonton electrical planning
Before choosing a larger panel, establish whether the problem is equipment condition, circuit space or incoming supply. Those are three different scopes — and three different reasons a quotation can change.
Planning and referral resource, not the installation contractor. Professional credentials and local availability require confirmation.

Three decisions to bring into the brief
What is retained, and on what evidence?
Which selected equipment was assessed?
Who confirms City and EPCOR milestones?
Conceptual planning sequence. These cards do not specify wiring methods, issue permits or establish technical capacity.
Bring the electrician a list of the changes driving the request: charging, heating, cooking, a suite or a workshop. Keep selected equipment separate from future ideas. The useful first decision is whether the current system can support an appropriate arrangement, not whether a larger cabinet can fit on the wall.
Ask for the proposed scope in layers: distribution equipment, incoming service components, utility-related activity and restoration. Retaining an existing cable subject to inspection is an assumption worth recording. It should not disappear inside a single panel-upgrade price.
An interior panel change and work that reaches the meter, garage or underground connection do not have the same construction boundary. Request a description of the affected surfaces and the responsibility for making them good. The electrician's invoice may not include every utility or landscaping amount the owner will face.
Keep the proposed outage sequence with the actual project correspondence. A permit application, an inspection booking and a utility appointment are not interchangeable confirmations. The owner should know who is waiting for whom before clearing a day for work.

Retain the accepted arrangement, required inspection outcomes and the limits of the work. A future buyer should not infer that untouched circuits were rewired or that the service rating changed simply because the panel looks new. Record future loads that were assessed and those that remain undecided.
